AT THE Y, WE STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY.
In 2023, our mission impact totaled $928,089.
That's the total value of what we gave back to the two-county area in membership, program fees, facility use, subsidies, community education, and outreach.
Every day, we work with our members, volunteers, and neighbors to bring lasting and meaningful change to Northwest Florida. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive through programs that connect them with others and promote a healthy lifestyle.

20% of Families
in Our Out-of-school Programs Receive Financial Assistance.
One of the toughest decisions parents must make is deciding who will care for their children while they’re at work. Our out-of-school time is filled with activities to stimulate young minds, promote active play and help develop interpersonal skills and values. Our programs provide kids a healthy snack, homework help, academic enrichment, structured physical activity, creative play, and a chance to have fun with friends.
12% of Our 15,000 Members Receive Financial Assistance.
Escambia County Is the 2nd Poorest County in Florida.
All our community's residents deserve the opportunity for regular physical activity in a safe, supportive environment like the Y. By making membership accessible for everyone, we support individuals and families in their health and wellness journeys. Especially during times of stress and crisis, the Y remains a place where everyone is welcome, supported and safe.
Our goal is to provide Y Assistance for up to 15% of our membership, based on need.
Up to 3rd grade, students learn to read. Then, they read to learn.
But about half of Escambia 3rd graders aren't reading on grade level - so they can't read to learn.
Enter our YMCA Reads program, a proven curriculum that helps new and struggling readers get back to grade level. In our first year, 83% of our students improved their standardized test scores, and 92% were promoted to the next grade level.
Florida Leads the Nation in Drownings for Children Ages 1-4.
1,337 Swim Lessons Taught Last Year.
To a child, the water of a pool or the beach can be irresistible. At the Y, we recognize that learning water safety is a necessity - and it might just prevent a family in our community from experiencing the tragedy of a drowning.
Our program offers group lessons for all ages and a diverse abilities swim program that invites those with special needs into one-on-one lessons. Because every child should be safe in and around water.

All Abilities Welcome in Our Programs.
13% of Our Members Are 60 and Older.
8,000 People Are Retiring Every Day.
20% of Americans Will Be 65 or Older by 2030.
With its mild climate and affordable cost of living, our community is a haven for retirees and snowbirds who choose to make Northwest Florida their home. For these active older adults, most private gyms and traditional programs don't offer the guidance they need to feel confident and safe.
The Y fills that gap, offering wellness support, programs designed for older participants, and a welcoming atmosphere where older adults can be physically active and socially connected, both of which are critical for health and wellness.
