Our Mission
Everyone knows the Y as a place to camp, swim, or exercise - but we’re so much more. We’re working side-by-side with our neighbors to address critical community needs that help kids develop into smart, resilient adults, for people to improve their health and build a sense of community, and for our most vulnerable young people to get the care and support they need.
The YMCA of Northwest Florida has been strengthening community in the Florida Panhandle for 140 years. Our strength lies in our ability to unite people of all faiths, races, ages, genders, incomes, and abilities into a diverse family. At our Y, every body belongs!
The YMCA of Northwest Florida is a local nonprofit organization, offering health, hope, and opportunity:
- Parents find a safe, nurturing environment for their children to stay active, be engaged, and learn positive values.
- Children and teens play and develop self-confidence while feeling accepted and supported.
- Adults connect with friends, pursue interests, and learn how to live healthier.
- Seniors have the opportunity to remain physically active and socially connected - which often enables them to remain independent longer.
- Youth learn to be safe in and around water, which can mean a family never has to experience the tragedy of drowning.
- People from all backgrounds and walks of life come together to volunteer and help strengthen their community.
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Y provides crucial programs and services to more than 20,000 people every year. With the help of generous donors, we had a mission impact in the two-county area of $414,589 in 2022. That's the value of membership, programs, services, facility use, education, and community service we gave to Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
