Program Corner - UWF Students Volunteer with Y Reads

YMCA Reads is excited to announce a collaboration with the University of West Florida’s Literacy Instruction for the Elementary Learner course. As part of this partnership, UWF education majors are working directly with our program to plan and implement lesson plans based on our KidzLit curriculum. These students are gaining hands-on experience while delivering engaging, literacy-focused lessons that are making a real impact on our young readers. Our program is reaching more children than ever, with over 233 students now participating in afterschool reading sessions at seven local schools. We’re proud of the positive strides we’re making in literacy and look forward to further growing these impactful partnerships in the months ahead.
We’re always looking for volunteers to help—no experience is necessary! If you're interested in making a difference, simply email Rebecca Rubey to get involved.
