We're excited to announce that the renovation of the Community YMCA at Gulf Breeze is well under way after beginning on Aug. 26. We expect this complete facility update to take 3 1/2 months, which means you, our members, will get a new YMCA for Christmas.

After careful consideration, we've determined that the fastest, safest, and most cost-effective strategy is to close the facility entirely while this work is being completed. The Gulf Breeze Y will remain closed to members during this renovation.

Why Keep Your Membership Active during Construction?

  1. Enjoy complete access to our other branches - downtown and Navarre - even if you don't have a regional membership. Check in the same way you do at Gulf Breeze beginning Aug. 26. No other action required on your part.
  2. Lock in your current rate through December 2025.
  3. Get a "bring a buddy" pass that entitles your friend to 14 free visits for each month we're closed. (Request a buddy pass at the Welcome Center of any branch.)
  4. Be entered into a drawing to select the member who cuts the ribbon at our Grand Re-opening once renovations are complete.
  5. Be entered into a drawing to receive your membership FREE for 2025.
  6. Get early access to the renovated facility before our Grand Opening.

You will be able to use the other branches beginning Aug. 26. Active Gulf Breeze members will have access to everything included with membership at these sites – cardio, weights, pools, steam/sauna, group fitness, KidZone, basketball, volleyball, pickleball and more.

Your membership will automatically be accepted at the other branches beginning Aug. 26 and until the Gulf Breeze location re-opens. You can scan into our other locations with your barcode on the app, just like you do at Gulf Breeze.

Buddy passes will be available beginning Aug. 26. You can request a pass at the Welcome Center of either Bear Levin Studer or Pullum. Your buddy will receive 14 visits per month for each month we are closed. You can bring different buddies each month or the same person.

If you remain a member, you will be charged your usual monthly rate, which will give you access to our other locations during the renovation. You can cancel your membership during renovation and return when the remodel is completed without penalty. If you return by January 31, 2025, you will not be charged a Joiner’s Fee.

We do not freeze/hold memberships. If you don't want to stay active during the closure, please submit a cancellation request via our webform by the 25th of the month to cancel effective the next month.

Simply complete an online request if you would like to cancel your membership during renovations. Submit by Aug. 25 to cancel beginning in September.

Yes, this facility will remain 24/7 after renovations.

Yes, we will continue to have live classes with instructors you know and love in our remodeled multipurpose room at the rear of the facility. We will also have three Personal Studios that will feature on-demand classes delivered virtually, giving you the opportunity to select from thousands of workouts at a time that fits your schedule. We do not plan to have a dedicated Spinning room, but we will have Spinning bikes available to use in these studios.

The renovation will include some new equipment and continued use of some current equipment. We will be removing current equipment that is very outdated or not functioning reliably.

The renovated facility will not include a sauna or pool. These amenities are available at our other locations.

At this time, we will not have KidZone when we re-open, as demand has not been high enough for us to continue offering the service. However, the space will become a multipurpose room with the possibility of KidZone again in the future.

We've collected input in many ways: comments left via our member survey; data on facility and program usage; informal conversations with members; observation of trends; research into YMCA and industry trends in other areas; and analysis of trends at our other facilities. Our facility plans reflect the most efficient use of space to serve the most members possible given our available resources. Our design is flexible enough to allow for changes as future needs arise.

Absolutely! If you’ve never been to the Bear Levin Studer Y, a visit will help you decide what you’d like to do. We’d be happy to give you a tour any time the Y is open: Mon-Fri, 5 am-9 pm; Sat, 7 am-5 pm; Sun, 12-5 pm.

Parking is available at no charge in the garage right across the street. Simply note your license plate number so you can validate at our self-service kiosk. You'll receive 3 hours of free parking when you visit. Area street parking is available if you'd prefer, but most of it is metered.

If you downgrade from a Household to an Adult membership, you will be able to lock into that Adult rate. If you want to lock into your current Household rate, you will need to keep that membership active during the renovation.

Yes, if you paid for a full year and opt not to use our other facilities during closure, we will credit you for the time we are closed.

If you remain an active member with us during the closure, you will automatically be entered into these drawings. No additional action is needed on your part.
