September Group Fitness Spotlight

The YMCA serves all demographics of our communities. Our senior population is the cornerstone of our organization. While social distancing has put a damper on a lot of senior and group programs, we are working hard to pivot and move into different spaces to reach out to members.

Some online options have had success with keeping members connected. We are excited to get back to more in-person classes in September. Per the CDC, activity typically decreases with age, and by age 75, about one in three men and one in two women engage in no physical activity.

We are hoping to change our local statistics by offering Senior Fitness and Chair Yoga. We know that having a routine helps to keep us on track. Staying active is a way to keep people mentally, physically and emotionally fit. As we age, these social connections and routines become even more important. We all need some things to look forward to each day that are positive and help us feel better all around.

Our Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
