November Staff Spotlight

Madison Smith

How long have you worked at the Y?

I worked for two summers at the outdoor pools and now transitioned here to BLS to work for the winter.

What is your role at the YMCA?

Mostly, I have worked as an aquatic assistant for two summers at Hunter Pool. I wanted to work during the winter and there are no Aquatic Assistant jobs during the winter, so I worked hard this summer on getting my lifeguard certification. Now I work as a lifeguard here at BLS.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

I love greeting people as they come in the pool area. Saying hello to everyone and building relationships with members. I especially like when children come for swim lessons or family swim- It makes me smile to watch the kids playing in the water.

If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?

I would be a dog. They are cute and small when they are first born. I like how they can look scary on the outside but be the sweetest, kindest animal on the inside.

What do you really do at the YMCA?

I welcome people. I like to welcome people on the deck with a friendly face.

Our Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
