April Health Corner

This year, most of us will be focused on regaining what we lost in 2020 and finding new ways to take care of ourselves and our communities. Last year interrupted many routines and day-to-day lives. We are here to help you get back on track and get back out in to the community. Since re-opening, we have focused on keeping everything sanitized and spaced out, per CDC guidelines.

We have brought back group fitness classes and personal training. We are now starting to slowly increase our offerings to meet our members' needs. You can get back into a routine by attending a scheduled group fitness class or meeting with a personal trainer. We recommend restarting your routine by taking it one day at a time. Many people’s work routine changed as well, having them now working remotely. We are now offering online options with virtual classes on our website and via Zoom. So if you can’t make it in, you can go to our website, log in and get in a workout with one of our awesome instructors. The Y can also help you reach back out to our community. We host blood drives with One Blood throughout the year. We will be hosting our Healthy Kids Day Event in person on May 1 with healthy activities for kids. The event will be indoor and outdoor, and One Blood will be there.

If you are looking to make a positive impact on our community in a different way, consider a gift to our Annual Campaign.Throughout the year, we accept donations that stay right here our community. Your money goes toward our Y Assistance Program and scholarships for children to participate in youth programming. You can specify where your donation is used. It’s a great way to help other families stay healthy and connected. For more information, ask the Welcome Center how you can get involved, pick up a campaign brochure, or learn more on our website. If you are more hands on, we offer opportunities for volunteerism. We often engage volunteers for our community events or for support in youth programs.

Whether you are looking to get your health and wellness in order or looking to help others, the YMCA is here to help!
