April - Exercising Together

Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. When getting started on a new or increased intensity exercise routine, it’s important to remember “start low and go slow” – start at a lower intensity and slowly build up duration and intensity.

It is important to find ways to stay motivated:

Find activities that are fun and enjoyable.

Find ways to stay active that you look forward to – gardening, walking, dancing. Any movement is beneficial.

Make it social.

Setting up a routine with a friend or family member helps keep you accountable.

Find a way to fit exercise into your day.

You’re more likely to stick to it if exercise is a convenient part of your day.

Envision a healthier and stronger you.

Staying active can also show many different benefits:

  • Boost your mood
  • Sharpen your focus
  • Reduce your stress
  • Improve your sleep

All of which can have a positive impact on your everyday life. Be creative and find new ways to stay active. The overall goal is to move more and sit less.
