Staff Member Spotlight

Noelle Redman

What is your role at the Y? I am a lifeguard at the Bear Levin Studer YMCA.

What do you enjoy most about being on staff at the Y?

The community and the people you get to meet daily. I worked at a YMCA in Texas, so when I moved here to Pensacola, it was an easy transition to work here at the YMCA. So far, I love it!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I really like anything to do with photography. I have only lived in Pensacola for a little over a month, so I am enjoying discovering Pensacola and working on my new house.

What do you like most about working in the aquatics environment? My passion for the pool and swimming came at an early age. When I was in college at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Missouri, I played water polo. Water polo is such a great aquatic activity that does not get as much attention as lap swimming or swim lessons. However, the skill and endurance required are just as difficult.

What is an interesting experience you have had related to your work or in your role?

Members at this Y are really great! They interact with you. Just the other day, a member thanked me for keeping kids out of their lap lane while they were swimming. I really want our members to have the best experience here at the pool.

What do you really do at the Y?

I guard the pool and make sure no one gets hurt. Every day it is different. Today I guarded a water fitness class and helped put up equipment. Yesterday, I was on top of the stairs monitoring the kids going down the water slide. Some days I only guard during lap swim times. It’s never the same!
