Running, Walking &Stroller Fitness Clubs

Where are you in your fitness journey? Are you a runner? Need to shake things up a bit? Love to walk? Looking for a group to help with accountability? If you have been a member of the YMCA for very long, you already know the Y is more than a place to work out:It’s a community where people experience support, encouragement, friendship, and accountability.

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, consider joining one of the walking, running or stroller fitness clubs at the Betty J. Pullum or Bear Levin Studer Branches.

At the Pullum Family YMCA, the Running Club, led by Stephanie Chivis, meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 am. The group meets in the lobby of the branch, and the route is established. Everyone runs at their own pace for the distance of their choosing. Friday is the long run day, and runners are challenged to run to the beach and back, which is about 7 miles. Whether you are a seasoned marathon runner or just beginning to run, this group is for you.

Not a runner, but love to walk? Autumn Navarro leads the Walking Club members every Monday and Wednesday at 8 am. The distance is established based on the participants' level of experience.

Parents with young children should give Heike Salazar’s Stroller Fitness class a try. This group meets on Tuesdays at 7:30 am. In this class, participants will walk and perform squats,,lunges, and other exercises while socializing with each other along the way. Parents and children alike benefit from this group fitness class.

“The Bear Levin Studer Running Club is for everyone,” says their fearless leader, Troy Floyd. “If you can walk, jog, or run, we have the perfect route/course to fit your needs."

The group meets in the lobby Y every Thursday at 6 pm. The fun starts with a group photo, and then the run begins. Each person walks/jogs/runs at their own pace, with encouragement from Troy. Anyone who attends Running Club for 10 runs receives a YMCA dri-fit shirt!

Not only is the Bear Levin Studer Running Club people friendly, it's dog friendly too! So if your dog enjoys a run, you can bring them along.

No matter where you find yourself in your fitness goal, the Running Club is a great place to further your goals, meet others on their fitness journey and take your next step. Come join us Thursdays at 6 pm and “Let’s get healthy and fit!” says, Troy.

Would you prefer to walk? Melanie Paul welcomes members and community residents to walk on Tuesdays at 8:30 am. The group meets on the front porch of the Bear Levin Studer Y and walks 1-3 miles, depending on the group.

Whether you’re running, walking or making stroller fitness a part of your wellness routine, you will find Y staff and members to journey alongside you, encouraging and helping you every step of the way. What are you waiting for?
