Malson Family

Misty Malson and her family are members of the Pullum Y. Misty first found her way to the Y through swim lessons for her 6-year-old daughter. When the swim session ended, the family became household members. One of the biggest reasons they joined is because they appreciate the flexible hours and the before and after school program.

Misty stated that she “loves having both of our children at the same place before and after school. It's not only for the convenience, but also they have the opportunity to help each other when they need it; and the kids love going and that makes it easier for us! The children have also made so many friends and grown beautiful relationships with the staff.” Misty said that the one of the highlights of her day is the relationship she shares with the staff.“I love that the staff members are comfortable and open with us. We appreciate their candid daily reports and also appreciate them listening to our thoughts if we have suggestions or concerns. I have grown to really enjoy our conversations, bright and early and at the end of the day.”

When asked who their favorite staff members are, the Malson family replied, “We are grateful for all of the staff...Ms. Kelly, Ms. Robinson, Ms. Katyanna, Mr. Cameron, Mr. Andrew and all of the other desk staff who greet us with a smile in the morning and afternoon.”

Misty shares what being at the Y means to her family. “We love that our kids are part of a Christian-based program that allows them to get energy out and work on homework. I like that there is quiet time and a Bible story/prayer. Allowing the kids to participate and say the prayer has encouraged them to be more outgoing as well.”
