Hooray hooray for the first of May! Water Aerobics makes it 2021 debut this month at Betty J Pullum YMCA.
With the Pullum Y pool being seasonal, there has been excitement building around its opening. Water Aerobics will be offered Monday through Thursday from 9-10am. It is a great low-impact workout that builds muscle strength and boosts your endurance in addition to keeping your bones and joints healthy. It provides a good cardio routine as well as resistance that the water provides. Water aerobics helps to maintain and improve good cardiovascular health. Because less pressure is on the body compared with other forms of exercise, it is the ideal physical therapy for pregnant women and seniors.
Packed with friendly faces and fun, this class is a great start to a healthy summer. Water Aerobics typically lasts an hour. An instructor will lead you through a series of moves, offering options, with fun music to keep you motivated. You won't be swimming, as class will be done in the shallow end of the pool. All the equipment you will need will be supplied by the Y. If you would like to bring your own, you are welcome to do so. Three days a week is a good start for beginners. Although it's low-impact, you can make the workout harder by doing more repetitions or going faster during the class. As the summer progresses, we will schedule more of this fun class.
