Have you met Cameron?

Cameron is our Childcare Program Director and the newest member of our team.

Get to know Cameron:

"I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. I moved to Pensacola in early March to grow my career and of course be by the beach. When I am not working, I like to be outside exploring or doing something active. I grew up through the Y in youth sports, camps, Leader’s Club, working as a counselor in afterschool and camp, sports referee, camp leadership and eventually to my first full-time associate program director position. I want to continue working my way up in the YMCA and one day oversee an association. "

The Benefits of Play

Play is the best way for children to learn. They get hands-on opportunities to let their minds run free and also improve their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Children can build relationships with others and themselves through play with their imagination and creativity. Now more than ever, children need to be up and moving. After a couple years of limiting exposure to other children, kids need to step away from screens and play actively to get their bodies and minds to continue growing. As someone who works with kids, I always like to encourage the kids to be up and moving or at least doing something that makes their minds active.
