January - Program Corner

Thanks to all of our volunteers, flag football and cheerleading are off to a great start! The efforts of these volunteers help enforce the positive learning experience that the YMCA strives for.

In sports like flag football and cheerleading, a child learns to be a part of a greater whole. Not only does a child learn to strategize, plan and work with others, they also understand what it means to be a part of a greater wholeand to think of how their actions benefit others. Through sports, a child builds bonds and friendships that last through multiple seasons of YMCA sports and even into high school and adulthood. At the Y, we have seen a growing number of volunteers who are helping us grow and develop our programs.

Last, but not least, we want to shout out a huge "thank you" to The Last Mile for donating funds that purchased new lighting for our fields. This lighting allows us to practice andplay games on more days each week.

While we are still enjoying flag football and cheer season, sign-ups are currently open for winter basketball, which will begin mid-January.

Our Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
