February Exercising Together

What are those yellow straps on the basketball court for?

Many of our members have asked this question to our wellness staff and trainers. Answer? TRX straps! Invented by a Navy Seal, TRX is a body suspension trainer that engages every muscle group while performing pushes and pulls using your own body weight. The straps, which are adjustable, lengthen and shorten the distance between you and the anchor point to maximize the muscle’s full extension.

In this class, you can expect to perform arm curls, suspended push-ups, suspended hip raises, lunges and stretches. Be prepared to change positions so that you will be suspended either by your hands or your ankles or feet to complete an exercise, which is timed. Participants have described this exercise form as challenging but fun. Because it uses your own weight, gravity is going to be the force that makes this form so unique. This form uses a “dynamic point of stability,” meaning that balance using the straps engages the whole body from ankle to head, so you’re not toppling or slipping.

This class is held on Thursdays at 7 am on the Bubba Watson Basketball Court. TRX is your newest addition to the group fitness schedule and a great way to get a full body workout. Grab a friend and get ready to push, pull and stretch your way to a stronger body.
