December Exercising Together

A combination of smart and functional dance moves paired with the strengthening and toning powers of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), SoulBody Barre is a mindful workout that transforms the body and engages the soul.”

SoulBody Barre is not your typical barre class. In this class you can expect light weights and high repetitions; 32 is the magic number, this number helps to shape your muscles and give you a toned result. Depending on the specific class, you may also expect the use of rubber bands and body bars.

Because this is a more athletic version of barre, members should not feel discouraged to join in. While there are a few ballet basics, no previous dance experience is required. It’s more challenging than you might think, but we offer lots of modifications. The hardest part is the plank and push-up section.

Everyone can do this class!

You will be getting a little bit of everything; some cardio, some strength training, and a lot of balance practice. With emphasis on alignment and form along with a nice stretch at the end, SoulBody Barre is also classified as a mind/body class. This format also includes some really great music.

Rena has been the only instructor for the past few years. As of recently, we just welcomed several more instructors to a training, all of whom are in the process of finishing their certifications.

SoulBody Barre and SoulBody Barre Unhitched both start with floor exercises. In the “unhitched” version, you utilize a body bar for balance.

Throughout December, Soul Body Barre is Monday at 9:15 am and Barre Unhitched is on Thursday at 9:25 am. The Unhitched class also will be offered on two Saturdays, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. Watch for more classes in the evenings beginning in January.
