Freida Alaniz is a single parent of two children. Her daughter, Sophia, is 7, and her son, Mario, is 5. Freida is also a healthcare worker and when the pandemic hit in March, she was unsure exactly what she was going to do without childcare for Mario and Sophia. After all, as a healthcare worker, her position was essential. She had to be able to go to work. Then she heard about the YMCA Emergency Camp for healthcare workers and other essential employees. Freida shared that the YMCA had a huge impact on the community and with her family specifically, not only because of YMCA's insight to offer this great resource for essential workers, but also because her children LOVE it here. Freida and her family are now members of the YMCA and continue to use the childcare services. After the emergency camp, her children attended Summer Camp and currently attend our afterschool program at the Vickrey Center.
